I recently just got a new phone, so my old one is now my spare. I decide to put an extra Sim card in it so it can be my backup line, I tried U mobile cause I saw their advertisements and flyers around a lot, so I though okay no harm giving this a try, however I was so wrong, U mobile got to be one of the worst telecommunication provider in Malaysia. Here is my first impressions / reviews of their "wonderful" service.

Me being an indian I always believe in the concept of Karma, I believe that whatever we do upon others will eventually come back upon us. Here is why I believe that Karma is now being a bitch to Microsoft.

Yes the Iphone4 launched about 2 weeks ago in Malaysia by both Maxis and Digi. I wanted to highlight something important which I think is another trick by Maxis to get more people suckered, do you actually think that Maxis is purposely keeping low stock of Iphone4? Lets put it this way, do you actually think a big company like Maxis doesn't have the capital to buy and stock Iphones4 ? Seriously if you actually believe that then I can say that you have fallen for their marketing gimmick.

With all the news on open source operating systems like Symbian, MeeGo or even Android, I think it is time I talk about the underdog, and a non-open source one too. Well lets take a good look at Redmond's upcoming mobile phone operating system, Windows Phone 7 series.

Maxis has just launched their Iphone4, but as usual the company loves to make their customers unhappy. It seems that Maxis has not upgraded their systems for the data plan yet. So basically everyone who uses the data plan on their Iphone4 now gets charge RM0.02 / 10 kb. If you have an Iphone4 from Maxis you can dial *100# and check you unbilled amount under My account and watch the amount you owe Maxis. This is a problem as some people have reached their max charge ( example like mine is RM250 per line, ) and got their lines barred as their reached the limit.

Well everyone in Malaysia knows that Maxis is the most expensive Telecommunication Provider / Carrier in the country. It looks like they got a new strategy now, which is to push the blame to the OEM / Phone makers since it is highly unlikely the phone makers will do anything. Here I am going to give you an example of how they blame Nokia.

I recently had many discussion with a close friend of mine in real life about the topic above. He wrote a report based upon our discussions for a college project. I managed to convince him to allow me to publish his report online. Here is the outcome.

I am sure anyone of you guys and girls out there who owns a smartphone has the same fear as me, which is losing it to a thief. There is a way to reduce this, but it will require all telecommunication providers to sit down and agree to a Open Standard. This mainly is to make full use of the IMEI code of the phone.

Stephen Elop has just been named CEO of Nokia, he has promised that listening will be one of the most important things that Nokia will focus on in future. So I taught this might be a good time I give some of my musings on Nokia.

Well I am a fan of technology, and mostly into mobile technology. I am a fan of Ovi and Nokia in general cause they are the pioneers in many things mobile, eventhough the general public does not know about it. I have said this time and time again, that I believe in giving credit where credit is due and criticising where there are flaws.

For the past few months I been trying to push (of course not much success) the issue of the Android Marketplace exclusion from Malaysia. Yea there is so many topics in this very forum about how the phone is broken or not complete without the marketplace. Just search around the forum for with the keywords "Malaysia" in the official Android help forums and you can see tons of speculations about this problems. I taught I will highlight what is going on, just so most people will get the idea what is actually happening. Most of these info I have gotten by talking to some of the developers during Google DevFest 2010 Kuala Lumpur. Some of these statements are right from the horse's mouth.

If you were to check the internet there are rumors going around that Sony is about to release a Phone using their Playstation line. I for one certainly hope they do but there are a few things which they can and should do in order to gain a significant amount of market share from others.

Lets first see what exactly is JavaFX. To put it simple, JavaFX is a software platform for creating and delivering rich Internet applications that can run across a wide variety of connected devices. The current release (JavaFX 1.2, June 2009) enables building applications for desktop, browser and mobile phones. TV set-top boxes, gaming consoles, Blu-ray players and other platforms are planned.

Adobe is going to release Adobe Creative Suite 5, which has Adobe Flash CS5 in it, which in turn comes with a compiler which can compile your flash applications into native iphone applications. Followed by this announcement, Apple changed its iPhone SDK (software development kit) (also for Ipad and Ipod Touch development) license so that developers couldn't even submit programs to Apple that use cross-platform compilers, like Adobe Flash for example. This blocks all Adobe developers from creating applications for the iDevice family.

My own handphone is a HTC Hero, which is a phone produced by HTC and runs Google's mobile Operating System, Android. I find Android OS giving much more freedom when it comes to development but also cages me out of it.
Here are some of the few things I HATE ABOUT ANDROID OS

I don't know about the rest of the world, but since I live in Malaysia, I am going to be basing this on what happens in Malaysia. Smartphones are becoming an ever increasing thing in most people lives, just like how every tom, dick and henry owns a mobile phone in the present, every tom, dick and henry will be owning smartphones in the future. I am sure most tech-analysis will concur to this, hardly anyone will disagree.

I would like to thank Google, because of your ignorance and refusing to listen or even answer your customers you are officially on my shit list. Seriously, how hard is it to actually have a few people dedicated to answering people's question on your support forums. Your Android OS is becoming like most other Major linux distros where we need to depend on the community for the support compare to the company which is backing it up. Not there is anything wrong with that, for me since I am quite tech-savvy I dont really mind, but you will not be attracting the mass market.
