Depending on Facebook too much for your website

I been working on a couple of projects over the last 1 year, and everytime I present my project someone will ask me to include a Facebook login for easier access, okay this isn't so bad, I don't mind doing this, but when they ask me to make a website 100% dependent on Facebook I seriously think they are mad.

I was recently show casing one of my projects at Echelon 2011 Asia, I got some comments from people who told me I should use Facebook logging + social plugin all over my website because techcrunch did it and the quality of their comments have increased. Well maybe when they first implemented it, I am sure if they want to troll people can always create / use fake Facebook accounts.

Why would a site want to make itself as an enchanced Facebook ? If facebook dies, then what happens to your website ? dies with it I guess. For a news website like TechCrunch, or even my own blog I don't mind people recommend / suggest to use Facebook comments, but for a new website who has multiple features, why depends on Facebook?

In few months from now, I am sure there will still be trolling on TechCrunch, only a matter of time before it happens. Want proof of how even with Facebook IDs people will troll ? Try taking a look at the Malaysian Prime minister FanPage on Facebook to get what I mean.
