Maxis Communications Rejects Social


By chance today, I stumbled upon Maxis Communication ( one of Malaysia's Largest Telecommunications provider ) 's Facebook Wall. It seems they were in the process of rejecting social media. Today afternoon, I noticed their wall have disable user's posting, and just an hour ago I noticed the whole discussion forum is gone. I remember yesterday Maxis was teasing users about a whole new social experience, well I think they misunderstood what the world social means, since to me it seems that Maxis only wants 1 way communication on Facebook I guess.

Well here is what Maxis' FanPage looks like now, notice the sidebar has change drastically. Gone are the discussion forums, but new stuff such as Customer Service and house rules are now there.

 

Now even their Facebook Wall is gone, one can only see updates from Maxis only, user postings is all gone and the feature for it disabled.

 

Now there is a new set of rules set by Maxis, notice the part on how Maxis says it can remove any content posted as their whimp and fancy.

Also now it seems that all the discussion or anything related to feedback is done on Maxis' personal website, no more on Facebook.

 

So with all the changes above, was this for the better ? This is Maxis' new social experiment ? more like Maxis is dam scared of social media and couldn't control it well so they had to take drastic measures.  Perhaps it was all the complains for their sucky services or how they con/ swindle the customers with their data plans, or perhaps it could even be that they don't have the guts to face the truth. What we do know however, is Maxis doesn't know how to use Social Media.
