U Mobile : First Impressions and Problems makes it looks like it sucks

I recently just got a new phone, so my old one is now my spare. I decide to put an extra Sim card in it so it can be my backup line, I tried U mobile cause I saw their advertisements and flyers around a lot, so I though okay no harm giving this a try, however I was so wrong, U mobile got to be one of the worst telecommunication provider in Malaysia. Here is my first impressions / reviews of their "wonderful" service.

My Experience with their Starter-Pack

I bought my starter pack from 7-eleven at 28/08/11 and they told me in 1 day time I should be able to use it. Their bill however said the line will be activated in 48 hours.

24hours passed, the line still was not activated. Monday night ( 29/08/11 ) Tried to call their customer service line with my other phone, clicked english and choose prepaid customer, waited for 15mins+ still no one bothers to pick up the customer service ( CS ) helpline. Okay lets follow their standard proceduer, give them 48hours.

48 hours passed the line did not activate. Was at dinner with a friend ( Tuesday night 30/08/11 ), tried to call their CS line, again I choosed english and prepaid customer, waited 10mins, no one answers. My friend suggested that I should choose post-paid customer. So i called again and choose post-paid customer, straight away in 30 seconds someone answered the phone. The person on the other end tried to say sorry and said will look into my case and call me back.

72 hours passed ( Wednesday night 31/08/11 ), again line is still not yet activated. Called their CS line again choosing English and prepaid customer. Waited 5mins+ no one picks up the line, so called back this time choose post-paid customer, and in 20 seconds someone picks up the line. This time the girl at the other end was also suspicious since 72 hours is too long for the line to be activated, so she was trying to help me by asking me go to 7-eleven and re-register or trying to fax to me the registration form and ask me to fill in and fax back. I told her I didnt have access to this two, and she took down my details and said she will call the 7-eleven i register to see what is wrong and get back to me.

90 hours passed ( Thursday afternoon, after lunch 1/09/11 ). Line still not activated and no one got back to me. Decided to make 1 final call to their CS if not I will cancle the line and get another provider. Again i tried choosing english and prepaid, and what you know even after 6mins+ no one answers it. So again I called back choose post-paid and now it in 10 seconds someone picks up the phone. This time the girl at the other end was telling me the same thing as yesterday, to go to a 7 eleven or use a fax machine, i told her nevermind since they are not interested I might as well get a refund. The moment I said I want a refund, she straight away passed it to her supervisor I assume ( named Jenny ) and Jenny quickly asked me for my 19-digit number on the back of the sim card and told me she will activate it now and call me back in 10mins. True to Malaysian timing, after 23mins, she called back saying my line was activated and now it works.

Wow to activate the line is so troublesome.

Postpaid customers > Prepaid customers - It is very obvious that U mobile only cares about their postpaid customers, since for 4 days I couldnt get anyone to pick up their CS line for prepaid but everytime I choose post paid i can get someone to pick up the line.

They are dam scared of Social - Checking out their Facebook Fan page, you can see that u mobile has disable their Facebook wall. Normally anyone who disable's their Facebook wall for a fanpage doesn't want feedback. This already tells that u mobile is probably dam scared of Social Media. There is also 1 guy who keeps posting this wonderful messaage on most of their wallposting.

U mobile doesn't have good programmers - When my line was not yet activated, I tried calling their CS number, but each time I do it, it tells me there is an error and to call their CS number ( which I am doing ). Also according to the picture above, they deduct your 100mins free call time each time you call the CS, so either their programmers don't know how to put an exception or it is on purpose to burn people's air time.

Internet quite bad speed - Their speed for their net is nothing fantastic, however maybe the old saying you get what you pay for explains this. ( I give credit Umobile pricing is superb, but their service isnt ).

Yea above is my impressions of U mobile from just 4 days.
