MiniTunes - A good looking simple music player

I been trying find a suitable player for both my Linux Desktop and Netbook, most players. Kept jumping from one player to another, each with different reasons, some I don't like the interface, some I doesn't help me organize my music with ease or doesn't have the features I require (like Syncing with my phone) , etc etc. For my desktop I am already happy with SongBird, but SongBird is too heavy for my netbook. With MiniTunes however, I think I finally found a perfect music player for my netbook.

Same as MiniTube , MiniTunes is also for Linux and Mac OS X  (at least for now). According to their website, Minitunes is just another music player, only better. Minitunes unclutters your music listening experience with a clean and innovative interface.

Here are some of the features the site claims:-
  1. Look them in the face.Browse your collection by artists pictures and album covers.
  2. Powerful multimedia engine.Minitunes takes advantage of Quicktime on the Mac, GStreamer or Xine on Linux.
  3. Browse folders and files.Minitunes lets you browse your music the way you organized it.
  4. Playlists made simple.Minitunes has just a single playlist. It's always there on the right.

At the first launch, you get to choose which folder your music sits, or let it scan your whole PC for music files. I just selected my /home/music/ folder, which is the place I keep all my organized music. It took awhile, but after around 10mins ( I had around 1.2k songs ) it managed to display all the songs sorted to folders with pictures of the artist and album covers. It looks like most of the source is from last.fm.

Take note that this is only version 0.1.1, the project started on June 5 2010. I am really interested in seeing the progress this project is going to make. Most other Linux music players doesn't have much bling to attract people, but this one just might be able to do it. This is a music player I recommend for all netbook users who want a simple and clean player.
