Why we shouldn't could Nokia and Ovi out of the Smartphone race yet.
Well I am a fan of technology, and mostly into mobile technology. I am a fan of Ovi and Nokia in general cause they are the pioneers in many things mobile, eventhough the general public does not know about it. I have said this time and time again, that I believe in giving credit where credit is due and criticising where there are flaws.
Here I am going to give credit to Ovi and Nokia as they deserve it, and hence the reason I am a fan. Nokia and Ovi has brought the concept of cloud computing (with their Ovi services) to mobiles even before the other competitors started making announcements or coming up with prove of concepts. Nokia also understands the global market, and realize that not everyone lives in countries which provide decent and affordable data packages for mobile, hence they design most of their services to consume very little data or even have the ability to work offline. One good example is Ovi Maps, it is as accurate as any standalone GPS device, yet at a price that everyone can afford, which is free. When one compares to the competitors most of the services require a constant connection to the internet which is something not many have the luxary. Nokia also realize that most people love music, hence they have their Ovi music services, which with certain phones you get to download unlimited music for free for a year from the service. Hey if they didn't do it, most people would have resorted to piracy anyways (not all, but most). Most of Nokia's competitors offer music services too, but either you pay per music, or have to subscibe to a monthly plan. Nokia also understands that being social is the future for most things, hence you can see most Ovi services now have some degree of social features.
There are many more reasons why I am a fan on Ovi and Nokia in general but the above are some of the key points. Lastly, I would like to add, the main reason that I am a huge fan is, that Nokia doesn't focus on only the USA or even the UK, they focus on a global scale, unlike other competitors who only have eyes on those countries and offer services there only.
